Recycling plant inquiry opens

10:06am Friday 3rd February 2012

A THREE-DAY public inquiry into plans to expand a recycling plant at Timsbury opens next week.

The appeal by RF Salvidge Farms Ltd will be heard by a government appointed planning inspector at Romsey Town Hall on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, between 9am and 6pm each day.

Hampshire County Council’s regulatory committee turned the company’s Bunny Lane application down last year.

RF Salvidge sought permanent planning permission to retain and extend its waste- recycling facility, but councillors rejected the scheme, which would have seen the site increase from 3.5 hectares to six hectares.

Michelmersh and Timsbury Parish Council and neighbouring Braishfield Parish Council both opposed the extension plans on the grounds that the site was within designated countryside.

Romsey Town Council also objected fearing, that if the application was approved, it would result in more lorry movements on the area’s roads.
